  • Title: Egyptian Spiny Mice Colony (Free)
  • Name: Karl Leonhardt
  • Location: VERO BEACH, Florida
  • Group of about 15 spiny mice, mixed ages from adults to a few months old. They are up for adoption, but a cage is not provided. They are currently in a 36-inch-long Exo Terra but really need a larger cage to allow for plenty of movement, climbing branches, wheels, and other things to entertain themselves. They are colonial and often are huddled together during the day, but they can also be territorial, so they will have nips on the tails and legs from squabbles. They heal quickly, but a larger cage will help prevent this. They are calm and quickly climb up on the front of the cage for treats. They are gentle and I have never had one of them attempt to bite when handled. I needed to cut way back on the animals in the classroom to get ready for moving, so I needed to put them up for adoption. You would need to pick them up before or after students arrive at the school and have something to bring them home in.
