Chimpanzee For Sale

Chimpanzees are a species of great ape and the closest living relative to humans. Unlike other members of the primate family, chimpanzees do not have a tail. Although they often use all four limbs for mobility, they can walk upright like humans. They also have opposable thumbs and can use tools. Coarse black or dark brown fur covers their bodies and each chimpanzee exhibits its own, unique personality.

Housing a Chimpanzee

Chimpanzees are highly social animals and should be kept with other chimpanzees. The pen should have an enclosed top to prevent the animal from escaping. Grass or other plant material should cover the floor. Chimpanzees like to nest in trees and swing from branches so they do well if they have trees, swings, or play equipment in their enclosures. Additionally, the enclosure should protect the animals from extreme weather conditions.

Chimpanzee Diet

Chimpanzees are omnivores and will eat insects, eggs, meat, birds, as well as honey, fruit, and vegetables. In the wild, chimpanzees spend six to eight hours a day foraging for food. They should be fed small portions several times a day rather than one large meal because this more closely mimics their eating habits in the wild.

Chimpanzee in Captivity

Chimpanzees are intelligent and active and require a lot of enrichment. Chimpanzees are used to hunting for their food so seeds, nuts, and raisins that are scattered in the grass or ground cover of their enclosure will force them to seek out their treats, occupy the animal for hours. They can be taught sign language, can learn to play games, and master various tricks.

Breeding Chimpanzees

Chimpanzees reach sexual maturity between 10 and 13 years old. Female chimpanzees reproduce every three or four years, but the mother and child remain together for at least seven years. The gestation period is about eight months. In captivity, chimpanzees can live into their sixties.

Chimps are a very relationship based animal(like humans)so the better the relationship the less of the problems will occur ive owned 2 chimps and they are great if you take care of them properly, as in no abuse or yelling and anger will rub off onto them so if you do own a chimp be nice to him/her and feed them a healthy diet and dont cage them!! they dont like being caged unless they are high asf

Chimps belong in the wild, not a cage in a house. A teenage chimp is aggresive and unruly no matter how nice they were as babies. Anyone who's had one and is honest will tell you there are times when you will legit be scared of it and it can easily severely harm you. Get a dog

Listen guys I se a lot of yall commenting above about keeping a chimpanzee as a pet casually. If you're gonna get one it ain't casual dudes. You can't keep em inside, can you keep a human inside? No! Also once they grow up they'll become aggressive and could possibly kill you. If you're lonely, get a dog or cat. If you're a rich person with swaths of money that can invest in a large amount of land where you can keep, feed, and enrich multiple chimps then go ahead and have fun (at your own physical risk). If ya can't, then please don't get a chimp. You might end up dying one day and the chimp alongside you for killing you and thats no fun. As much as i wish these creatures were domesticated, they're not. They're too aggressive when they grow up. And i doubt they will ever be domesticated because they offer little benefit compared to other animals and are extremely hard to maintain. So get a dog or cat, or if you're looking for something exotic maybe an elephant (if you're rich). (Also no, you can't keep an elephant inside). Or there are other cool, exotic species out there that are easier to tame. But please, unless you've got conditions similar to nature, let the chimps stay in their forest.
